R. Glen Willis, DMD, MAGD, FIOCI

Before becoming a dentist, I spent my childhood growing up on a dairy farm in Tifton, Georgia. I moved to Rock Hill when I was 18 years old to attend Winthrop University. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1989 with a B.S. in Biology. I attended the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Dental Medicine and graduated as First Honor graduate (class rank #1) in 1993.

During dental school, I received the United States Air Force Senior Dental Student Scholarship. Upon graduation, I reported to David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA to receive my post-graduate training in “Advanced Education in General Dentistry “(AEGD). Here I received intense training in all areas of general dentistry to include implants, I.V. sedation, removal of impacted wisdom teeth, dentures, partial dentures, crowns, bridges, root canals, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, and hospital dentistry. I completed my 3 years of service as a General Dentist in the USAF at Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, SC.

I moved back to Rock Hill in 1996 to join Dr. George Hook to form Willis and Hook Dental Associates. In 2011, Dr. Mark Espinal joined the practice to form Carolinas Center for Advanced Dentistry. I have always been very active in the community and my professional associations. Currently, I serve as Team Dentist for Winthrop University Athletics and Immediate Past-President for the South Carolina Academy of General Dentistry.

One of my greatest professional endeavors is my commitment to continuing dental education. I recently received my Mastership award from the Academy of General Dentistry. The Mastership award is the highest honor available at the Academy of General Dentistry and one of the most respected designations within the profession (less than 1% of general dentists have this designation). To accomplish this goal, I had to complete over 1,100 hours of continuing dental education in 16 different subject categories.

I’m also a proud member of the following organizations:

  • American Dental Association
  • South Carolina Dental Association
  • Tri-County Dental Association
  • South Charlotte Dental Study Club
  • Academy of General Dentistry
  • South Carolina Academy of General Dentistry
  • Pierre Fauchard Dental Honor Society
  • Academy for Sports Dentistry

My wife, Kim, and I enjoy spending time together exercising, traveling, and watching the kids (Grant 11yrs old, Jessica 9yrs old, and Lauren 7 yrs old) grow and participate in their activities; soccer, dance and gymnastics.

As a family, we enjoy boating on Lake Wylie, bicycling in the neighborhood, taking family trips, and going to Winthrop University Athletic events. We attend both Impact Community Church and First Baptist Church of Rock Hill. I look forward to working with you and your family to achieve and maintain your dental health.

George A. Hook, DDS
I was born in Great Falls, Montana as an army baby. I moved to Bessemer City, NC at six months where I grew up and graduated from Bessemer City High School. I then got my undergraduate degree and my DDS from the University of North Carolina in 1970. Following school, I then served in the US Army and moved to Rock Hill in 1972. I married to my wife Linda in 1966 and have 3 children: Shannon Foley and her husband C C, Seth Hook and his wife Wendy, and my youngest son Kyle Hook. I also have several grandchildren named Corbin, Garrett, and Chandler Williams; along with Mallory and Darby Hook. I established my dental practice in 1972 and am approaching 40 years of private practice in Rock Hill next year. I have emeritus memberships in the American Dental Association, SC Dental Association, and a Fellowship in The Academy of General Dentistry. I was also a credentialed member of the American Society of Dental Aesthetics. I was a delegate to the South Carolina Dental Association for four years. I have been a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church for 32 years where I served as moderator of the board of deacons and presently serve as an elder. I enjoy golf, UNC basketball and traveling with my wife. I had the opportunity to take a course in southwest cooking while traveling in New Mexico and hope to put it to good use. My greatest source of pride and joy is my wonderful wife Linda, children and grandchildren and spending summer vacations with them. I look forward to many more years of serving the needs of my patients who have played such a critical role in the affirmation that Rock Hill, SC was the place that God led me.
